SUMMARY:Carl Bledsoe: Gaited Horsemanship\, Part II: 3-Day Clinic in Maine
DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand and at a second location\, Carl Bledsoe is returning to New England to continue his teaching tour with GHNE. This three-day clinic will focus on gait\, softness\, connection\, and principles that develop the physical and mental development of your horse. For those of you who rode with Carl last year\, he will bring new techniques and more advanced teaching instruction. To those of you new to Carl’s unique\, horse-first\, and gentle style of instructing\, Carl will meet each horse and rider team at their level and help with individual goals. Typically\, horse and rider teams will progress well throughout the clinic. Additionally\, clinic riders have the option to purchase an individual\, one-hour lesson on the fourth day to synthesize and conclude the lessons learned during the clinic. For more information\, contact Loren Stevens at loren.stevens202@gmail.com. \nCLINIC OUTLINE: \n\nOn the first day\, Carl begins with an assessment that allows him to assess the horses as well as the riders and determine riding groups. After lunch\, riders break into their assigned groups for group and individual instruction.\nCarl starts the second and third days with classroom work to review the topics being discussed. Classroom work lasts approximately an hour. Then\, the participants return to the arena. One group rides while the other group observes and interacts with Carl while taking notes. This format is very popular\, interactive\, and educational\, and it also prevents the horses and riders from being physically or educationally too fatigued. This format also limits the number of riders in the arena at one time\, giving intentional attention to those in the arena.\nOn the fourth day\, Carl offers optional individual one-hour lessons to focus on synthesizing the clinic techniques personally for you and your horse.\n\nCARL BLEDSOE BIO \nCarl & Tammy conduct clinics and attend expos sharing his story of his progression from the show ring to now teaching and training with the best interest of the horse as his primary focus. They hope to prove just how wonderful\, versatile\, and extremely talented the TennesseeWalking Horse\, as well as the other gaited breeds\, truly are. Carl has been a guest speaker at the Sound Horse Conference in 2014\, a guest speaker representing the Tennessee Walking Horse in 2019 at the Equus Film Festival\, a gaited clinician in 2018 at Equifest and thefeatured gaited clinician at the 2020\, 2023\, and 2024 Horse World Expo\, 2021 Georgia Horse Fair\, 2022 Southern Equine Expo as well as 2023 Equine Affaire Ohio and Massachusetts. Carl was also a guest judge at the Appalachian Trainer Face-Off in 2022\, 2023\, and 2024. Additionally\, he was featured in the 2023 July edition of Horse Illustrated. Carl was also awarded 2022 Humane Horseman of the Year by the Humane Society of the United States for his work in advocating for the sound\, humane training of Tennessee Walking Horses and other gaited breeds. The annual award honors individuals who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to protecting America’s equines. Carl and Tammy are\, above all\, advocates for the horse!

SUMMARY:Ivy Starnes: Gaited Horse Clinic
DESCRIPTION:GHNE will host nationally renowned Gaited Horse Clinician\, Ivy Starnes\, this August 22 – 24. The clinic will be limited to 8 horses and rider teams to allow ample\, individual attention to each horse and rider team. Each day\, the clinic will begin with a one-hour classroom session with videos. \nEach horse and rider receives an individual lesson each day and will interact during the other clinic participant’s lessons as well. \nThis individual and group format allows for all participants to receive individualized attention and additionally work on their goals. Ivy will ride your horse early in the clinic and then transition to giving the rider time to learn on their own horse. This clinic style works amazingly well\, and by the end of the clinic\, most times\, every horse is gaiting like a champ with his or her rider! \nIt is a very interactive clinic\, with lots of Q&A from riders and auditors. \nIvy will work on gaiting\, cantering\, dressage\, obstacles\, standing to mount\, side passing\, dressage\, trick training\, and liberty training\, depending on the goals of the horse and rider team. \nCost: $1000 for the three-day clinic\n$40/day to audit \nFor more information or to reserve your slot (1 of 8)\, contact Loren Stevens at Loren.Stevens202@gmail.com. Contact Loren for the waitlist. \nGaited Horses of New England will have coffee\, snacks\, water\, and lunch runs each day of the clinic. We will also host a Potluck Supper on Saturday evening (August 23) for GHNE members to enjoy each other’s fellowship and ask questions of Ivy. Save the dates for the clinic and the Potluck! \n

DESCRIPTION:September 14 –16\, 2024: Gaited Horsemenship Clinic with Carl Bledsoe\nSeptember 17\, 2024: Private Lessons\nMountain Lane Farm\, Temple\, NH \n\nAbout Carl Bledsoe  \nCarl Bledsoe specializes in American Gaited Breeds with a show\, training\, and breeding background with the Tennessee Walking Horse. He and his wife Tammy own and operate their training farm in Talking Rock\, Georgia. They conduct clinics and present at horse expos around the country\, promoting training with the best interest of the horse as their primary focus. Carl has been a guest speaker at the Sound Horse Conference\, a presenter representing the Tennessee Walking Horse at the Equus Film Festival\, a guest judge at the Appalachian Trainer Face-Off\, and a featured Gaited Clinician at Equifest\, the Horse World Expo\, the Georgia Horse Fair\, the Southern Equine Expo\, the Horse World Expo\, the Ohio Equine Affaire\, and now the Massachusetts Equine Affaire. \n\nAbout the Three-Day Clinic:\nOn the first day\, Carl will begin with an assessment that allows him to assess the horses as well as the riders and determine groups. After lunch\, riders break into their assigned groups to learn elements of classic horsemanship. The second and third days begin with classroom work (approximately an hour)\, discussing the topics being practiced in the arena each day. Then\, Carl will split up the riders into two groups; one group rides while the other group observes\, takes notes\, and interacts with Carl. This format is interactive\, educational\, and progressive for each horse and rider team. \n\nThe 3-day clinic is $825/horse and rider team for GHNE members and $850 for non-members (which includes membership to GHNE for insurance purposes).  \nPrivate one-hour lessons on September 17 are $100 for clinic participants and $125 for non-clinic participants who are GHNE Members and $150 for non-clinic participants who are non-GHNE members (includes membership for insurance purposes). There are a total of 8 slots for lessons on September 17.  \nAudit fee is $40/day. \nFor more information\, contact Stacey Deignan at stacey@deignan.com or StaceyDeignan@yahoo.com.
